Who we are
History of CPI
The business of CPI was founded in Victoria on 1st September 1977 by the late Mr Peter Sajet and Mr Daryl Lea. Both Peter and Daryl, determined to provide better service to the industry than their competitors, recognised that they would best supply the market by becoming an integrated paper merchant and converter. CPI was the first merchant to install sheeters that are used to convert (cut) paper to a customer’s desired size. This entrepreneurial approach to business, identifying customers’ needs and a focus to clearly differentiate CPI from its competitors, has carried through time and still exists today.
After the successful establishment of CPI in Victoria, the founding directors set about expanding the Group and its distribution network. The Company expanded rapidly and was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1992. Today, CPI’s sales and distribution network covers all states and territories of Australia and both the north and south islands of New Zealand.
The CPI Group employs over 400 people, with the potential to benefit from growth through its areas of specialisation. CPI takes pride in providing the highest level of professional service and products to our customers.
